Solar Energy on Cape Cod in 2013

Solar Electricity Generation in 2013 by Customers of My Generation Energy

Was 2013 in Southeastern Massachusetts a good solar year for weather and equipment? Absolutely yes.

The over 150 solar projects installed by My Generation Energy, Inc. enjoyed the sunshine and produced more energy in 2013 than ever before. Not that there weren’t challenges to this outstanding performance. Anyone remember the blizzard of 2013 in February? And we’re just coming through a rather dreary December—but better a cloudy December than a cloudy June. Indeed, the systems throughout our territory were all able to over-produce enough clean solar electricity in most months to outshine their annual expectations for 2013. For example, in Provincetown, Truro, and Wellfleet, systems generated at nearly 109% of their annual projections. Systems in the Southcoast towns of Dartmouth, Westport, and Marion Massachusetts also exceeded expectations at 111%. At Airport Way in Hyannis, the largest installation on Cape Cod and the Islands pumped out over 1,700,000 kWh (enough to power over two hundred homes). The customers of My Generation Energy, from Quincy to Chatham to Martha’s Vineyard, have converted over 7 Gigawatt hours of sunshine into clean electricity!

We thank our customers and supporters for a great 2013—a record year for solar electricity produced in Massachusetts.
