Solar Power in Wellfleet Attacks Climate Change

Representatives from My Generation Energy participated in the “Chasing Ice” event addressing climate change at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater on March 1, 2014. Sponsored in part by the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Cape and Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative, and WCAI radio, the activities included a screening of the award winning film “Chasing Ice” and an expert panel discussion. Moderated by WCAI’s Heather Goldstone, the panel included scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and MIT.

During the discussion period, the question of “what can we as individuals do?” was answered with many possible actions—some related to influencing policy, others directed at personal behavior choices. More than once, it was recommended that energy conservation and adopting renewable sources like solar panels on your home or business is a great way to make a difference.  We couldn’t agree more.

Mark your calendar, another event sponsored by Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Cape and Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative is scheduled for May 10 at 2:00. This will feature a presentation “Greening the Grid” by Chris Powicki of WEEinfo and Luke Hinkle of My Generation Energy, addressing the practical challenges and solutions for the region’s future energy landscape.
